Most hair forks are bought by people who already own hair forks. This one is bought by people who saw a cat on it — which is a completely different customer, and a useful one to have in a range that otherwise sells on geometry and material.

Amber tortoiseshell, cream leopard, pearl cream and dark brown. The leopard is the one that carries the cat head — spotted acetate on a cat shape is a joke the customer gets immediately, and it sells accordingly.
A hair fork has nothing to break. There is no spring to lose tension, no hinge to seize and no metal to corrode — it holds by friction and by the geometry of the prongs against a twist of hair, and that is the whole mechanism.
It is also why the tips matter more than anything else on the piece. Ours are tumble-polished after cutting, so the prong slides into hair rather than snagging it. A moulded tip has a parting line running down its length, and that line is exactly where hair catches.
