Product Description
Most cushion brushes fill the pad with one bristle type at one height. This one uses two, at two heights, on the same pad: short white boar bristle tufts and longer pins with rounded tips. The short bristle works the surface of the hair; the long pin reaches the scalp. In one pass the brush does what normally takes two tools.
How the Dual Bristle Actually Works
Run a single-height brush through thick hair and you get one of two outcomes. Short bristles polish the top layer and never reach the roots. Long pins reach the roots and leave the surface unsmoothed and static-charged. Neither finishes the job.
Setting both in the same pad solves it mechanically. The long pins enter first and open the section; the boar tufts follow immediately behind at surface level, laying the cuticle flat and distributing scalp oil along the shaft. The result is the finish people associate with a salon blow-dry — done cold, with one tool, in half the strokes.
The boar is white and undyed. The pins are set in a staggered pattern so no row of hair escapes untouched.
Cut From Solid Acetate, Not Moulded
The body is cellulose acetate — a plant-derived material made from wood pulp, not petroleum — CNC-cut from solid sheet rather than injection-moulded. That is why the pattern runs through the full thickness of the handle instead of sitting on the surface as paint, and why the piece has weight in the hand that a plastic brush of the same size does not.
The stock pattern here is a dark olive-and-black camouflage marble: unusual, and deliberately not the amber tortoiseshell everyone else runs. Because acetate is bought as sheet, this shape can be produced in any pattern in our library — see the alternatives on our three-colourway oval brush, which shares the same production route in gold tortoiseshell, pastel stripe and pearl white.
The Handle
The handle is cut wide and flat with a tapered tail, polished to the point where it feels closer to a piece of jewellery than a tool. Acetate is tumble-polished for days rather than buffed for minutes, and the difference is entirely tactile — it is the reason acetate accessories hold a higher retail price than the same shape in plastic.
At 23.5 × 6.8 cm the brush is a full-size everyday format rather than a travel piece.
Where It Sits Against the Rest of the Range
Against our steel-pin acetate cushion brush, this is the softer, more finishing-oriented tool: boar bristle in the mix means shine and oil distribution, where an all-steel head means separation and scalp stimulation. Brands that run both usually position this one as the “smoothing” SKU and the steel-pin one as the “detangling” SKU.
Pair either with an acetate comb from the same sheet for a matched set — the full pattern library is on our cellulose acetate collection page.
Branding
Acetate takes recessed ink-fill particularly well: the logo is engraved into the handle and filled with paint or metallic foil, so it sits below the surface and cannot rub off. Hot stamping in gold and laser engraving are also available. Send a reference to our OEM team for a quote within 24 hours.

Bristle & Pin Options
The bristle set changes the feel, the target hair type and the price. All four run on this same body, so you can switch without new tooling.
Anti-Static Stainless Steel PinSmooth ball-tipped steel pins that glide through wet or dry hair without static. The default on this brush.
Nylon Ball-Tip PinFlexible and forgiving — the gentlest option, and the usual pick for detangling and kids lines.
Pure Boar BristleNatural bristle that distributes scalp oils and adds shine. Best for fine to medium hair.
Boar & Nylon MixBoar for shine, nylon for grip — the combination for thick, curly, or textured hair.

About Cellulose Acetate
Cellulose acetate is a plant-derived, biodegradable material made from wood pulp or cotton fibers. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, it breaks down naturally over time, making it an eco-friendly choice for premium hair accessories. Its unique properties allow for rich color patterns — from classic tortoiseshell to custom marble effects — that cannot be replicated with standard plastics.
As a manufacturer with 25+ years of experience, EcoHairFactory has mastered the intricate process of cellulose acetate production — from sheet selection and pattern matching to precision cutting and multi-stage hand polishing. Each piece undergoes 8–12 finishing steps to achieve the signature smooth, glossy surface that defines high-end acetate accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
The long pins enter first and open the section; the short boar tufts follow at surface level, laying the cuticle flat and carrying scalp oil down the shaft. A single-height brush does one job or the other, not both.
No. It is undyed white boar, which is why it is visible against the darker pins in the photographs.
Yes. Acetate is bought as sheet, so this shape runs in any pattern in our library — gold tortoiseshell, pastel stripe, pearl white and fully custom colourways included.
This one is the smoothing tool: boar in the mix means shine and oil distribution. An all-steel head means separation and scalp stimulation. Brands running both usually sell this as the "smoothing" SKU.
