Product Description
A dressing comb is the tool a barber reaches for between clipper passes and a stylist uses to set a parting. It has to be long enough to control a section, thin enough to lie flat against the head, and rigid enough not to flex under tension. At 15.9 × 3 cm with a straight ruler profile, this is that comb — in acetate rather than the black nylon the trade usually settles for.
Fine Teeth and Wide Teeth on One Bar
The bar is split down its length: fine teeth along one half, wider teeth along the other. It is the classic barbering layout, and it exists because the two jobs happen seconds apart. The wide half opens the section and takes out any tangle; the fine half lays it flat and defines the part or the blend line. Switching tools mid-cut breaks rhythm, so a two-in-one bar earns its place in a professional kit.
The narrow 3 cm depth is deliberate. A slim comb slides under a section and lies close to the scalp, where a deep comb lifts the hair away from the head and loses the line.
Why Acetate for a Working Comb
Acetate is cut and tumble-polished rather than moulded, so there is no seam line running down the length of the teeth. On a comb used against the scalp all day, a moulding seam is what catches — it is invisible in a product photo and immediately obvious in use.
Acetate also carries heat differently from nylon. Under a dryer it stays comfortable to hold, and it does not soften and distort the way cheap plastic combs do when they are left near heat.
The material is plant-derived, made from wood pulp rather than petroleum, which lets a professional line carry a sustainability message that a nylon comb cannot.
Stock Colourways and the Leather Sleeve
Two patterns run as stock: classic tortoiseshell at 15.9 × 3 cm, and pearl white at 15.9 × 3.5 cm. Both are cut from solid sheet, so the pattern runs through the full thickness and through every tooth rather than sitting on the surface.
A fitted leather sleeve is available in black or tan, which is how most retail and gift orders ship — it protects the teeth in a kit bag and lifts the perceived value considerably. Any pattern from our library can be substituted; see the cellulose acetate collection.
Who Orders This Shape
Barbershop and salon supply distributors, men’s grooming brands building a kit around a razor or beard oil, and hotel and members-club amenity programmes where the comb is the item guests take home.

Branding
The long straight spine is the best branding surface of any comb we make — there is room for a full brand name at legible size. Recessed ink-fill, hot foil and laser engraving all work; foil on tortoiseshell is the combination that photographs best for retail. Send your artwork to our OEM team for a quote within 24 hours.

About Cellulose Acetate
Cellulose acetate is a plant-derived, biodegradable material made from wood pulp or cotton fibers. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, it breaks down naturally over time, making it an eco-friendly choice for premium hair accessories. Its unique properties allow for rich color patterns — from classic tortoiseshell to custom marble effects — that cannot be replicated with standard plastics.
As a manufacturer with 25+ years of experience, EcoHairFactory has mastered the intricate process of cellulose acetate production — from sheet selection and pattern matching to precision cutting and multi-stage hand polishing. Each piece undergoes 8–12 finishing steps to achieve the signature smooth, glossy surface that defines high-end acetate accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
A 3cm depth slides under a section and lies close to the scalp. A deeper comb lifts the hair away from the head, which loses the parting line or the blend the barber is working to.
Injection moulding leaves a seam running down the teeth. It is invisible in photographs and immediately obvious against the scalp. Acetate is cut and polished, so there is no seam to catch.
Better than cheap plastic. It stays comfortable to hold under a dryer and does not soften and distort when left near heat, which is a common failure on nylon combs in a working salon.
The long straight spine is the best branding surface of any comb we produce — there is room for a full brand name at legible size. Foil on tortoiseshell photographs best for retail packaging.
