A square-headed beech paddle with one detail that separates it from the rest of our wooden range: a moulded rubber grip set into the handle. It is there because a wet hand on a polished wooden handle slips, and a paddle brush is used on wet hair more often than not.
We would rather state this plainly than let a buyer find it at sample stage. The grip insert is a moulded rubber component, so this brush is not plastic-free and should not be marketed as such. If a fully natural product is the requirement, the correct answer is one of our wooden-pin bodies — the beech oval or the walnut oval — which carry no rubber and no synthetic bristle.
Where the brief is performance rather than positioning, the grip earns its place. Wet hands are the normal use case.
Longer nylon pins reach the scalp; shorter boar tufts between them carry the oil down the hair. The cushion is vented so it compresses and rebounds rather than bottoming out under pressure. It is a smoothing brush that survives wet use, which is the combination a paddle is bought for.
Cut from solid timber rather than laminated stock, sanded and sealed. Beech is close-grained and pale, which makes it the wood that takes a laser-engraved logo most legibly — the burn reads dark against a light ground with no ink involved.
