Product Description
This is the one in our round brush range with no metal and no plastic in the body: barrel and handle both turned from solid wood, filled with boar bristle. If the reason your customer is buying from you is the material, this is the brush that story is built on.
Why a Wooden Barrel Behaves Differently
A metal barrel gets hot under a dryer and holds that heat — which is exactly what a ceramic or aluminium brush is designed to do, because the hot barrel sets the shape faster. A wooden barrel does not. It stays close to hand temperature no matter how long the dryer is on it.
That makes this a slower brush and a gentler one. It is the right choice for fine, coloured or damaged hair, and the wrong choice if your customer wants the fastest possible blow-out. Both are legitimate products; they are not the same product, and a range is stronger for carrying both.
Six Diameters, Counted in Rows
The trade counts these by bristle rows rather than millimetres, and the two go together:

Six is a deep ladder, and it is why this model suits salon and professional distribution rather than a three-SKU retail set. A stylist working across hair lengths all day wants the sizes between the sizes; a retail customer wants three and gets confused by six.
If you are building a retail range, take the 13, 19 and 26 mm and leave the rest — tooling is per size, so a shorter ladder is a cheaper launch. The 13 mm is small enough for a fringe or a men’s cut, and the 31 mm is a long-hair smoothing brush.
Twill or Straight Grain
Both plantings run on every diameter, and they suit opposite hair types:
Twill. Spiral rows, more grip. For hair with less volume — curly hair, bobs, and anything where you are trying to put bend in rather than take it out.
Straight grain. Straight rows, less grip, releases cleanly. For thick hair, blowing out straight, fringes and soft ends.
100% Boar
Pure boar, no nylon. Boar bristle is keratin, the same protein hair is made of, and it moves the oil that collects at the root down the length of the shaft — which is what produces shine without product.
The honest limit: pure boar does not grip thick or coarse hair well. If your customer base is predominantly thick-haired, a boar and nylon mix will serve them better, and we run that on this same barrel.
Wood or Bamboo, Same Tooling
Every wooden part on this brush also runs in bamboo. It is the same turning and the same tooling — what changes is the blank we start from, so the decision is yours to make on positioning rather than ours to make on engineering.
Bamboo is the harder and denser of the two, it takes a slightly cooler tone, and for a lot of buyers it is the one that carries the sustainability story more convincingly because it is a grass that regrows in years rather than decades. Beech and schima take colour better and machine to a warmer finish. Ask for both at sampling — it costs nothing extra to see them side by side, and it is much easier to decide with the two in your hand.
Specification
Six barrels from 13 to 31 mm, 8 to 18 bristle rows, solid wood barrel and handle, 100% boar fill, twill or straight-grain planting. Handle length, barrel colour and wood species are all specifiable; the stock finish is a warm mid-brown stain.
Solid wood holds heat and is the choice for a smooth finish; a vented barrel dries faster because air passes through it. If that is the priority, the gold vented round brush and the honeycomb vented brush cover the same handle in a hollow barrel. MOQ varies by barrel size — tell us the sizes you want and we will quote them together. See the rest of the round brush range, or send your brief to our OEM team for a quote within 24 hours.

Every wooden product is sanded through multiple grits and finished with natural oils to ensure durability and a premium feel.
Frequently Asked Questions
Directly: 8 rows is a 13 mm barrel, 18 rows is 31 mm, with 10, 12, 14 and 16 rows at 16, 19, 22 and 26 mm between them. The trade orders by rows, so it is worth listing both.
Twill grips harder and suits hair with less volume — curly hair, bobs, ends that need bend. Straight grain releases cleanly and suits thick hair and straight blow-outs. Both run on every diameter.
Yes — turned from solid, not a veneer over a plastic core. That is the difference you are paying for on this model, and it is visible at the end cap.
No, and that is by design. Wood stays near hand temperature, so it is gentler on fine and coloured hair but slower than a heated aluminium barrel.
Yes, barrel and handle both. Same tooling, denser material, cooler tone. Worth sampling side by side before you commit.
