Most claw clips are organic shapes — shells, bananas, curves that follow the head. This one is drawn with a ruler: a hard rectangle with a rectangular window cut through the middle, straight edges, square corners. It reads as architecture rather than accessory, and it is the shape minimalist and workwear-adjacent brands ask for by name.

Removing the centre panel does two things beyond the look. It takes weight out of the top of the clip, so a large size does not drag the bun backwards. And it lets air and hair through, which is what stops a big flat clip from sitting on top of a bun like a lid rather than gripping into it.
The frame that remains has to carry all the load, which is why this shape only works in a cut material. Acetate is dense and slightly flexible, so a narrow frame holds tension without cracking — injection-moulded plastic in the same geometry snaps at the corners.

Both run on the same profile logic, so a brand can list them as a small-and-large pair rather than two unrelated SKUs — a structure that reliably lifts average order value.
The stock pattern is classic tortoiseshell, and the geometric shape shows it off unusually well: because the frame is narrow, you see the amber and dark brown layers meeting at the cut edges, which is where acetate looks most obviously like a material rather than a colour. It is the argument for tortoiseshell in one glance.
Any pattern from our library can be cut into this shape — see the alternatives on our wide-tooth comb, which shows ten stock patterns, or the full cellulose acetate collection.

The spring is set into a recessed housing so it sits flush with the frame — on a squared clip a proud spring housing is immediately visible and cheapens the whole piece. Spring tension is specified separately from the shape: a large clip holding thick hair needs a stronger spring than the same shape in a small size, and getting that wrong is the most common reason a claw clip fails in the field rather than on the shelf.
Tell us the hair type you are designing for and we will match the tension on the sample. Our claw clip range covers curved and sculptural shapes too, and our OEM team quotes within 24 hours.
Make this product your own. Every detail is customizable for orders meeting the MOQ.
Laser engraving, hot stamping, silk screen printing, or UV printing on product body and handle.
Pantone color matching. For acetate: custom tortoiseshell, marble, and unique pattern designs.
Modify dimensions or create entirely new shapes. 2,000+ existing molds or develop new ones.
Kraft boxes, velvet pouches, blister packs, retail-ready display cards. Your brand on every package.
These are the stock colours this shape runs in. Any Pantone reference can be matched on top of them — colour is mixed into the material, not sprayed on the surface, so it never chips or fades.
Send a Pantone code or a physical reference and we will match it on the sample before bulk. See the full pattern library →
Packaging is produced alongside the product and ships as one order. Printed packaging carries its own lead time, so tell us early which route you want.

Samples from an existing mould ship against a sample fee that is credited back against your first bulk order. Custom-tooled samples are quoted case by case.
Bulk production starts once the pre-production sample is approved in writing. Reorders of a running design are faster, because tooling and colour are already set.
FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP are all available, by sea or by air, from Shenzhen or Guangzhou. DDP is the simplest route for a first order.
Cellulose acetate is a plant-derived, biodegradable material made from wood pulp or cotton fibers. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, it breaks down naturally over time, making it an eco-friendly choice for premium hair accessories. Its unique properties allow for rich color patterns — from classic tortoiseshell to custom marble effects — that cannot be replicated with standard plastics.
As a manufacturer with 25+ years of experience, EcoHairFactory has mastered the intricate process of cellulose acetate production — from sheet selection and pattern matching to precision cutting and multi-stage hand polishing. Each piece undergoes 8–12 finishing steps to achieve the signature smooth, glossy surface that defines high-end acetate accessories.
It takes weight out of the top so a large clip does not drag the bun backwards, and it lets hair through so the clip grips into the bun rather than sitting on it like a lid.
No. The narrow frame has to carry all the load, and moulded plastic cracks at the square corners. Cut acetate is dense and slightly flexible, so it holds tension without failing.
The small 7.5cm suits half-up twists, fine hair and stacking; the large 12cm holds a full bun in thick hair and carries the retail price. Listing them as a pair reliably lifts average order value.
Separately from the shape. A large clip on thick hair needs a stronger spring than the same design in a small size. Tell us the hair type you are designing for and we will match tension on the sample.
