Product Description
Rhinestones on a hair clip usually look stuck on, because usually they are. These are set into drilled seats in the acetate, flush with the polished surface, arranged as small five-stone flowers scattered across a pearl-cream shell. Run a finger across the clip and you feel a continuous surface, not a row of bumps.
Drilled and Set, Not Glued On Top
The process adds two stages after the shape is cut. Each seat is drilled to depth on a CNC bed, then every stone is placed and set by hand. It is slower and it costs more, and it is the entire reason this clip photographs like jewellery rather than like a craft project.
Surface-glued stones fail in a predictable order: they catch on hair, they rotate, then they drop out. Set stones do not, because the seat carries them rather than the adhesive alone. If you are comparing quotes on an embellished clip, ask specifically which method is being used — the price gap is real and so is the difference.
A Pearl Shell With Depth
The body is a soft cream pearl acetate with faint grey-taupe striations running through it. It is deliberately low-contrast: against blonde and light brown hair the clip half-disappears and the stones do the work, which is the effect bridal and occasion-wear buyers are looking for.
The shape is the classic shark claw — a curved shell with the teeth meeting along the inside edge — sized for a full twist or a medium bun.
Where It Sits in a Range
Embellished clips are a margin product. They cost more to make and they retail at a multiple of a plain clip, so a brand typically runs one or two as the top of a range that is otherwise unembellished — the piece that raises the perceived value of everything next to it on the shelf.
The obvious companions are plain clips in the same pearl acetate: see the sculptural loop clip, cut from a related pearl sheet, or the geometric rectangular frame clip for contrast.
Customising the Stonework
Stone colour, size and layout are all specifiable — clear crystal is stock, but coloured stones, pearls and a denser or sparser scatter all run on the same body. The flower arrangement can be replaced with a border, a cluster, or your own motif.
Because setting is done by hand, the layout is not constrained by tooling the way a moulded pattern would be. Send a sketch to our OEM team, or browse the full claw clip range first.

About Cellulose Acetate
Cellulose acetate is a plant-derived, biodegradable material made from wood pulp or cotton fibers. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, it breaks down naturally over time, making it an eco-friendly choice for premium hair accessories. Its unique properties allow for rich color patterns — from classic tortoiseshell to custom marble effects — that cannot be replicated with standard plastics.
As a manufacturer with 25+ years of experience, EcoHairFactory has mastered the intricate process of cellulose acetate production — from sheet selection and pattern matching to precision cutting and multi-stage hand polishing. Each piece undergoes 8–12 finishing steps to achieve the signature smooth, glossy surface that defines high-end acetate accessories.
