Product Description
Held still, this looks less like a hair clip than like a small piece of blown glass — a pearl-white body with a curved loop rising off the back, a slice of dark tortoiseshell set through the centre, and a thin gold line tracing the seam where the two meet. It is a display piece that happens to hold hair.
The Loop Is the Whole Design
The arc rising from the body has no functional job. It exists so the clip has a silhouette from the side, which is the angle a hair clip is actually seen from when it is being worn. Most claw clips are designed flat and viewed from above in photographs, then disappear into the back of a head in real life. This one does the opposite.
It also gives the hand something to grip when opening the clip, which turns out to matter more than expected on a piece with a smooth polished body.
Two Sheets, One Body
The pearl shell and the tortoiseshell insert are different acetates, cut separately and joined so the boundary runs as a clean line through the thickness of the piece. The gold line following that seam is a filled engraved channel, not paint on the surface, so it sits flush and does not wear away.
Combining a pale pearl with a dark amber is a deliberate contrast: the tortoiseshell reads as a shadow or an aperture in the white body, which is what gives the piece its depth in photographs. Swap the insert for a colour and the whole character changes — it is the single most effective variable on this design.
Sized for a Real Bun
Sculptural clips often fail commercially because they are designed as objects and cannot actually hold hair. This one carries a full interlocking tooth set on the underside and a properly tensioned spring, so it holds a medium to thick bun rather than sliding out after ten minutes. The decorative loop sits above the working mechanism, not in place of it.
Positioned as the Hero Piece
This is a top-of-range item. It costs more to produce than a single-sheet clip, it retails at a premium, and it is the piece that gets photographed for the campaign while simpler clips carry the volume. Most brands order it in a rigid gift box — shown in the gallery — because at this price point unboxed delivery undercuts the object.
Shapes like this are cut from new tooling rather than adapted from an existing mould, so they are a design project rather than a catalogue order. Send a sketch or a reference image and we will come back with feasibility notes — some silhouettes cannot carry spring tension without cracking, and it is cheaper to find that out on a drawing than on a sample.

About Cellulose Acetate
Cellulose acetate is a plant-derived, biodegradable material made from wood pulp or cotton fibers. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, it breaks down naturally over time, making it an eco-friendly choice for premium hair accessories. Its unique properties allow for rich color patterns — from classic tortoiseshell to custom marble effects — that cannot be replicated with standard plastics.
As a manufacturer with 25+ years of experience, EcoHairFactory has mastered the intricate process of cellulose acetate production — from sheet selection and pattern matching to precision cutting and multi-stage hand polishing. Each piece undergoes 8–12 finishing steps to achieve the signature smooth, glossy surface that defines high-end acetate accessories.
