Most rhinestone hair clips are a plain body with stones glued on top. You can tell within a week of wear: the stones stand proud, they catch on hair and on the inside of a bag, and the first one comes off. This clip is built the other way round — every stone sits in a seat drilled into the acetate.
Drilling ten seats into a 12 mm-thick body and setting a stone in each one by hand is the slowest operation on this product. It is also the entire reason it is worth making. A set stone sits flush with or just below the surface, so there is nothing for hair to snag on and nothing for a bag to lever off.
If you have sourced glued rhinestone clips before and had returns, this is the specification difference to write into your next PO. It costs more per piece and it does not come back.
This is not a sectioning clip and we would rather say that up front. For holding a real section of hair, the 7cm thick side clip is the right tool.
Change the stones from multicolour to all-clear and this stops being a young, playful clip and becomes an occasion and bridal piece. Same body, same tooling, same MOQ — a completely different shelf. Brands that carry both usually find they do not cannibalise each other at all.
