This is a barber tool. The head is 32 millimetres across and carries three tight rows of boar bristle — narrow enough to work a fade line and stiff enough to move short hair rather than pass over it. The handle curves away from the head so the hand clears the client’s ear.
A fade brush works by concentrating pressure into a small area. Add rows and the force spreads, the brush starts behaving like a general grooming brush, and it stops doing the one job it is bought for. Three rows on a narrow head is the geometry barbers actually ask for.
Boar rather than nylon, for the same reason: natural bristle has enough stiffness to move dense short hair and enough give not to scratch the scalp on a close fade.
Cut and shaped from one piece of hardwood, then stained to a deep rosewood and sealed. There is no join between head and handle to work loose — the whole body is a single blank. The curve is not decorative; it is what keeps the knuckles off the skin when the brush is worked flat against the head.
The same tool sells into both markets, and the packaging usually decides which. Positioned as a fade brush it goes to barber supply; positioned as a beard brush it goes to men’s grooming retail. We produce it the same way either way.
