The teardrop is the shape that survives trend cycles. It has no corners to date it and no decoration to go out of fashion, which is why it is usually the first clip a new hair brand puts in a range and the last one it drops.
On a plain shape the whole product is the sheet and the polish. We cut this one from 3 mm acetate — thick enough that the domed face has somewhere to go, because a teardrop cut from thin sheet reads as a flat oval and loses the point of the shape.
The rounded edge is polished, not moulded. Moulding a rounded edge is faster and leaves a seam running round the widest part of the piece, which on a plain colour is immediately visible.
A pressed steel snap bar, riveted rather than glued. Rivet through the acetate and the joint is as strong as the sheet; glue it and the joint is as strong as the adhesive, which in a bathroom is not very strong at all.
Bar tension is a separate spec from the shape. Fine hair wants a softer bar than thick hair, and if you tell us the hair type at enquiry we will set tension to suit rather than shipping you the middle setting.

Bulk production starts once the pre-production sample is approved in writing. Reorders of a running design are faster, because tooling and colour are already set.
